About LWE CLG
Vision
Locky’s Wonder Emporium CLG (LWE) is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Galway. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable living practices and fostering a vibrant, community marketplace; hosting local Traders who operate sustainably.
Our vision is to inspire positive environmental change by supporting local sustainable artisans and producers to have dedicated indoor market space, and by offering sustainable products, engaging the community through workshops, performances, and educational experiences focused on environmental sustainability.
Mission Statement
Locky’s Wonder Emporium provides sustainable living solutions while promoting community engagement. Our mission is to support sustainable living and inspire people to celebrate life in eco-friendly ways.
We achieve this by offering sustainable products, supporting local sustainable artists and makers, and providing an inclusive venue for workshops, performances, and family-friendly entertainment.
Pilot Phase/Market Testing
In October 2024 we launched our online emporium with sustainable and nostalgic toys, games, decorations and gift wrapping to test the market. Then on the last week of November we opened a physical Christmas pop-up shop in Moycullen, Galway; to test the market further. This successful pilot was also developed to start the community conversation with other sustainable businesses in the area e.g., we have had significant positive feedback from local producers and crafters desperately seeking spaces to sell their goods but lacking a space to do so. We also have had multiple conversations with local theatre group members, choirs, musicians, artists and other performers who are also very much in need of a venue to showcase their work.
As a result of the above pilot we can confidently say, that the proposed 'Green Market' will be eagerly supported by the community we intend to embed ourselves in and indeed our hub may well become a model for other similar social enterprises across the country!
